New 52 Character Flaw - Batgirl
One thing I noticed as I browsed through my save image is one of Batgirl’s character flaw:
She lashes out at friends and foes when she’s completely stressed out.
…or when she feels underestimated.
When she just recovered and needed acknowledgement more than pity. She mistook Nightwing’s worry for underestimation.
When Joker returned, she lashed at Nightwing for not helping her without listening to her reason. On top of her own trauma, the involvement of her brother and the attack on her family, this is where she forgo all caution and actually acted with intent to murder Joker.
After she mended her relationship with her father, Commissioner Gordon was accused for murder and Knightfall launched an open war against the criminals of Gotham. She lashed out on Helena Wayne because she wore the same color as Knightfall.
When she went on her own to track the person responsible for sending her father to prison, she mistook Batman sending Red Hood to watch over her for mistrust. That is after she berated Jason for being a wanted man.
Whether this character flaw is handled well or not I leave it up to you, but I love that it’s maintained throughout the Bat Titles, creating a consistent character trait for Barbara.
I also like this flaw because it makes her similar to Bruce Wayne. There’s a certain closeness I feel when two characters share a trait.
Though not as often as him, thank ****

(…and here I thought I’d never write a commentary or fan analysis again. Well the last quiet months have been fun…)
Dead on. Batgirl had a lot of anger issues, and some of them involve lashing out.
The difference, I think, is that she comes to realize she’s doing it, and that it’s wrong.
